Plateau State has witnessed another spate of violence as two Fulani herdsmen were killed today by unknown gunmen wielding sophisticated weapons. A security source in Jos, capital of Plateau State, disclosed the bloody turn of events. The attack occurred in Gero, a village close to Bukur in Jos South local government area.
The source added that the gunmen also stole over 100 cattle after killing the herdsmen. He added that the attackers escaped without being arrested by security agents.
Today’s development comes barely a week after more than 30 villagers were killed in the state by suspected Fulani militiamen. The casualties arose after Fulani militiamen launched attacks on some villages in the troubled Riyom local government area of the state.
According to our source, “There was an attack and two herdsmen were killed. We heard that over 100 cattle were stolen.” He added that security personnel were trailing the attackers.
All efforts to reach the state police command were unsuccessful. However, a police source in Bukur confirmed the incident.
