PEOPLE S Democratic Party, PDP, in Ekiti State, yesterday vowed to return fire-for-fire with the ruling Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, if attacked.
Chairman of the party, Mr Makanjuola Ogundipe, in an apparent response to the killing of Ayodeji Jeje at Erinjinyan Ekiti and the alleged removal of posters of the PDP gubernatorial aspirants in the state by agents of government, said the ruling ACN had no monopoly of violence.
Ogundipe, who spoke during a public declaration and submission of letter of intent to vie for the 2014 gubernatorial election in Ado Ekiti, by the former publicity secretary of Afenifere , Prince Adedayo Adeyeye, said the alleged killing and attacks of members in different parts of the country would not go unchallenged.
He said: “Why are they are pulling down posters of gubernatorial aspirants at the same time when a burial programme of the former Deputy Governor was taking place? We have been given the marching order from Abuja to reply ACN fire-for-fire. They don’t have monopoly of violence, we are only being conscious of the fact that we didn’t want to destabilise Ekiti. But henceforth, we will no longer tolerate this act of brigandage.”
He however, urged members of the party to go to their various constituencies and mobilize for the party.
