Two officials of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and a policeman were last Friday shot dead while transporting examination papers to Maiduguri, the Borno State Capital by suspected members of the Boko Haram sect.
It was learnt that the officials who were coming from Yola, the capital of Adamawa State, were ambushed on Friday afternoon, by some gunmen believed to be members of the sect at Mule town, about 25 kilometres to Maiduguri.
The Hilux van with which they were transporting the examination papers was said to have been taken away by the assailants who left them in the pool of their blood.
The body of the victims it was gathered were later evacuated by soldiers and deposited at a hospital morgue in Maiduguri.

Spokesman of the state police command, Gideon Jibrin, could not be reached on his mobile phone, but an official of the examination body, who spoke to journalists on condition of anonymity, confirmed the killing of the two officials including a policeman escorting examination papers.
