Don’t defect to opposition parties, PDP youths beg govs

NATIONAL co-ordinator of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Youth Vanguard, Ambassador Ibrahim Bala Aboki, yesterday pleaded with governors elected on the platform of the party, especially those rumoured with plans to dump the PDP, to jettison the idea.
In a statement signed yesterday in Abuja, Aboki said there was no need contemplating such moves by the governors, against the backdrop that PDP was the only national party in the country. He added that all the opposition political parties planning to form the All Progressive Congress, APC, had ethnic agenda that lacked no clear objective.
He noted that the only binding force behind  opposition political parties was that of individual ambition for power at all cost, adding that this was not what Nigeria needed at this moment, Aboki said:  “There is no need dissipating energy on crisis or planning to decamp to any party, because the PDP is the only national party in the country. All the opposition political parties planning to form the All Progressive Congress (APC) have ethnic agenda that lacks no clear objective.
“The only binding force behind them is the individual ambition for power at all and this is not what Nigeria needs at this moment.”
Ambassador Bala Aboki also called on governors elected on the platform of the PDP to support the ongoing reconciliation embarked upon by the National Working Committee (NWC) and Board of Trustees (BoT), as it was the necessary tool for the success of the party in the forthcoming 2015 general elections.
Commending the reconciliation moves by the Bamanga Tukur-led NWC and Tony Anenih-led BoT of the party, he said:  “We seek the understanding of the PDP Governors in the ongoing reconciliation in the party. United we stand and divided we fail and that we see the reconciliation as the basic tool that will help the PDP maintain its leadership position in the country.”
According to Aboki, the reconciliatory meetings embarked on so far by the NWC and BoT of the party is preparatory to the expected general election, where the party will present a common ground against opposition political parties.
“We advise the PDP Governors Forum led by Governor Godswill Akpabio to support the reconciliatory meetings of all the organs of the party so as to achieve the designed goal. ‘’We are all aware of the proposed merger of the opposition parties under the aegis of the APC. We should understand that most of these opposition political parties have ethnic, regional and sectional agenda.
“If you take critical look at the parties involved in the merger talks; the CPC, ACN, ANPP and the APGA, they have different agenda in terms of ideological differences and philosophical values. They are blinded by blind agenda for individual ambition and there is no national agenda in their approach for national unity and sustainability for Nigeria as nation.”
