Boko Haram Butcher Arrested, Troops Repel Attack At New Marte, Chad Border

Nigerian security forces have arrested is ‘a lead specialist in butchering human beings’ who uses daggers and cutlasses for his dastardly work, Defence Headquarters spokesman Chris Olukolade said on Friday.
In a statement, Major General Olukolade also announced that the forces, part of the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF), on Thursday repelled a dusk attack by terrorists who were trying to overrun markets in communities in the outskirts of Monguno and NNPC at New Marte, Borno State along the Chadian border.
Over 50 assorted brands of grenades and 11 AK 47 rifles were recovered from the fleeing terrorists, he added, and cordon and search operations are ongoing along with heightened patrols.
He said the interrogation of captured terrorists from various locations has been yielding useful information as to their mode of operations.
“More assaults and encounters are continuing in other identified locations as intelligence sources confirm the routes being used by the fleeing terrorists,” the spokesman said, adding that troops have been directed to sustain aggressive patrols in certain areas where terrorists’ actions are anticipated.
