Police gun down leader of kidnap gang during rescue mission

The police in Enugu State have shot dead the leader of a gang of kidnappers during the operation to rescue a victim.
A statement from Mr Ebere Amaraizu, the spokesman of the Enugu State Police Command, on Friday said the victim, Mr Faith Omoboriowo, was rescued unhurt.
Amaraizu said Omoboriowo was abducted at Nru in Nsukka Local Government Area on Aug. 11.
He said that the leader of the gang, Obiora Agbo, was injured in a gun battle with the police when he came to collect the N2.5 million ransom which the gang demanded.
“The victim was rescued unhurt on Aug. 22 at Ohebe Village in Orba, Udenu Local Government Area at midnight,” he said.
Amariazu said that Agbo gave up ghost on the way to the hospital. (NAN)
