PHOTONEWS: At 20th Anniversary of June 12, Nigerians Audit Democracy

At a public lecture organized in Lagos today by the Save Nigeria Group [SNG] Nigerians audited the journey of their democracy so far, and unanimously expressed regret that no major advance has been made since 1993.
Representing the Federal Government, the Minister of Information, Labaran Maku tried unsuccessfully to convince the audience that the current government,
particularly President Goodluck Jonathan, has performed creditably or achieved important changes for the country.
Like a man struggling in quicksands, the more Mr. Maku tried, the less he achieved and the more he was embarrassed.  A cross-section of the speakers, particularly the leader of the Anti-Corruption Network, Mr. Dino Melaye, rejected his theories and strange statistics, demonstrating how badly Nigeria's democracy continues to languish under their leadership.
