While Kaduna Hospitals Are Closed Down, VP Sambo And Gov Yero Commit Millions To Hosting North-West Zone PDP Rally

Kaduna hospitals under lock and key

While citizens in sections of Kaduna State shut down roads in protest over insecurity and all public hospitals in the state are closed down following the paralyzing strike in the public sector, Vice President Namadi Sambo and Governor Mukhtar Yero are committing millions of Naira into gathering a big crowd for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) North West Zone rally to be hosted in Kaduna.
Health workers in Kaduna state under the Joint Health Sector Associations/Unions (JOHESU) are presently on an indefinite strike that was endorsed by the Nigeria Labour Congress in the state.
The health workers, according to their leader, Cecilia Musa, have no option than to resort to the strike action since government has failed to implement the balance of 30 per cent of the Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS).
A prominent politician who did not want to be mentioned confirmed on the phone that Sambo and Yero are on a spending spree ahead of the rally to impress President Goodluck Jonathan, while Governor Yero has refused to settle the industrial strike, offering the excuse that the state has no funds.
Elsewhere, the state seems to be coming apart at the seams as citizens in Birnin-Gwari town, as well as in Udawa and Buruku villages, shut down major roads for several hours on Monday in protest against Governor Yero complete insensitivity to security of life and property.
The prominent politician expressed regret that the priority of Sambo and Yero at this time is spending public resources to host Jonathan along other PDP governors in their zone.
