US consul lauds Aregbesola on education reforms

The Consul General of the United States of America in Nigeria, Mr. Jefferey Hawkins has commended the education reform programme of Governor Rauf Aregbesola led administration in Osun State.
Hawkins, who was on a visits to the state with some American  consulate officials, said the government had demonstrated that education was very important to government and its people with the overhauling of the sector to conform with the best practice in the world.
The  American envoy rnoted that more than 7,000 Nigerian students now study in various American universities as foreign students, a figure he said was  higher than that of any country on the African continent.
Hawkins, said visa officials at the consulate were included on his entourage so they could study and understand the people they were dealing with and familiarised themselves with the people’s backgrounds, beliefs and cultures.
In his response, the governor thanked the team for their commendation and promised that his administration wouldnot relent in doing that which was good for its citizens.
The governor noted that there is so much to be learnt from America by Osun  State and the country at large, saying that American democracy and federalism remains the greatest latitude in the definition of good governance.
