Nigerian Army, SSS Special Forces, Intercept Boko Haram Weapons In Sokoto


A joint operation by an army unit of the 1st brigade based in Birnin Kebbi and the State Security Services (SSS) in Sokoto has intercepted weapons hidden by operatives of the Islamic militant sect, Boko Haram, in a fuel tanker.
The interception was made in Tambuwal local government area of Sokoto state when the joint forces ambushed the Kano-registered XE 471 TRN vehicle.
A search conducted on the tanker yielded 790 rounds 7.62 mm bullets, two rocket propelled guns, three AK 47 riffles, 8 magazines, and one RPG 7.
The driver of the vehicle, Mohammed Yusuf, was promptly arrested. Army officers told SaharaReporters he faces further investigation to determine the source of the weapons.
