ADO EKITI – The authorities of Ekiti State University, EKSU, have expelled five students from the institution for allegedly raping female students.
According to the statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the university, Mr Ajibade Olubunmi, yesterday, the alleged offenders had been earlier tried and found guilty by the disciplinary committee headed by Professor W. O. Adebayo
They were to have been arrested last Thursday through a concerted effort of the university security personnel, the Police and youths from Iworoko Ekiti, a neighbouring town, according to the statement.
Names of the expelled students according to the statement are, Babalola Adedotun Kolawole, a 300 Level Psychology student, Omoteye Olalekan Olamide, a 300 Level Psychology student.
Others include, Bamigboye Biola Moshood, a Pre-degree Social Science student, Adekunle Lateef Omogbemileke, a 300 Level Accounting student.
As at the time of this report, both Adekunle Lateef Omogbemileke and Okube Gabriel Ogunmoroti were still at large
All the affected students, according to the statement, have been handed over to the police for necessary prosecution
Dean , Students Affairs of the university, Professor I G. Adanlawo in his comment was quoted as urging parents to monitor their children closely so that they don’t belong to bad groups.
It may be recalled that the university Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oladipo Aina has on several occasions warned that the institution will not hesitate to flush out bad eggs among the students and Staff
