Bauchi Alliance for Good Governance (BAGG), has appealed to Governor Isa Yuguda to shun the Good Governance Tour team anytime it arrives in the State as a protest against poor federal government presence in the State.
The leader of the group, Comrade Chindo Abdulsalam, said in a statement that the essence of the tour is more political than real as the team is being sponsored to launder the battered image of the Jonathan administration for its glaring failure to deliver on its 2011 campaign promises to Nigerians.
According to BAGG, apart from the image-laundering aspect of the tour, the team has been a burden to the respective States it has so far visited in its efforts to elevate the image of an administration collapsing under its false promises.
“Labaran Maku leads a team of 120 people claiming to inspect projects awarded by the Jonathan administration and such projects are not in existence in Bauchi State,” the statement said. “The essence of the jamboree is for deceit and baseless propaganda. Bauchi State has over the years benefitted nothing from the Federal Government in terms of development and the team now wants the scarce resources of the State should be wasted on hosting them. Governor Yuguda should borrow a leaf from his Edo State colleague and tell the team off.”
BAGG recalled that in 2009 when Yuguda defected to the PDP, he said it was to attract the presence of the federal government to the State but instead, Bauchi has been relegated to the back waters in federal appointments as well as projects.
“Apart from the National Housing scheme, the Almajiri modern school, few ETF and TEFUND interventions and the on-going completion of a road project in Bauchi north, the State has benefitted nothing,” it said.
The group called on Mr. Maku to put an immediate stop to the jamboree of deceit as a majority of Nigerians are eager to get rid of the Jonathan administration and usher in a more progressive and sincere administration for the good of the country.
“EFCC should be called upon to thoroughly probe the tour with specific emphasis on how much each of the States visited coughed out to curry favor,” BAGG said.
